How is COORETEC structured?

COORETEC is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi). Experts from industry, science and politics are involved in the initiative. An Advisory Council has been established to structure the cooperation composed of representatives of industry (plant construction, component suppliers, energy utilities), research (universities, research institutes), federal and state governments.

The Advisory Council’s function is to assess ongoing funding measures and to recommend new research priorities. The Advisory Council meets once a year at the invitation of BMWi. The spokesman of the Advisory Council is Prof. Dr. A. Kather from Hamburg-Harburg University of Technology.

Project Management Jülich is responsible for implementing COORETEC research funding. Five working groups have been set up for detailed discussions of special subjects complementing the COORETEC Advisory Council.

WG1: Gas Combined Cycle Power Plants

WG2: Steam Power Plants and Post-combustion Capture

WG3: IGCC with Pre-combustion Capture

WG4: Oxyfuel

WG5: CO2 Storage

As an additional working group with the aim of undertaking cross-sectional tasks, the Turbomachines Working Group is concerned with the development of innovative turbomachines such as gas and steam turbines or compressors for separated CO2.

The working groups hold workshops once or twice a year and these are open for new participants. If you are interested please contact the person responsible at Project Management Jülich.
